Context

A loan advisor, not a lender.

Urban Money doesn't lend money. It finds the right loan across banks and NBFCs and stays with the borrower through the whole journey.

The marketplace covers home loans, loans against property, business, personal, vehicle and education loans, plus insurance, credit cards and credit scores. The customer gets an advisor and an intermediary: someone who matches the loan to their needs, eligibility and financial profile.

Positioning

Not a neobank. Not a traditional bank. High-touch digital lending in the space between.

Technology-enabledHuman advisory-ledTrust-focusedLarge-ticket loan oriented

Key strengths

01

Real-estate ecosystem

The Square Yards connection brings home buyers, property investors and mortgage customers straight into the funnel.

02

Mortgage focus

Competitors started with personal loans. Urban Money built its credibility in home loans and secured lending.

03

90+ lenders

A wide bank and NBFC network means the advice can actually be impartial.

04

Human assistance

Most fintechs automate everything. Urban Money pairs technology with advisors, which suits higher-ticket borrowers.

02

Audit

A strong business wearing a generic face.

Weakness 01

Generic fintech identity

The old identity looked like every other finance marketplace. Nothing about it was memorable or ownable.

Weakness 02

Category confusion

Loans, cards, insurance, credit scores and business finance all at once. People couldn't tell what Urban Money is best at.

Weakness 03

Low emotional pull

Next to CRED, Groww or Zerodha, the brand story felt functional. Nothing made people feel anything.

Website

The old Urban Money homepage: a dark hero, statistics, product cards and a credit score banner all competing for attention
The old homepage. Hero banner, statistics, product cards and a credit score banner all compete for attention.

What the site said"Here are 20 things we offer."

What it should say"Here's the best solution for you."

Eight pain points

The site treated a first-time home buyer and someone checking a credit score exactly the same.

Old product grid with identical cards
Old credit card section with long descriptions
  1. No visual hierarchyUsers don't know where to look first.
  2. Identity crisisSix product lines in the first few scrolls and no hero offering.
  3. Generic fintech designDark gradients, green accents, rounded cards, floating graphics.
  4. Too much textUsers scan. The design forced them to read.
  5. Weak premium feelOffers, deals and discounts instead of expertise and guidance.
  6. No user journey"I need a home loan" and "check my score" got the same page.
  7. Too many equal CTAsApply Now and Explore More everywhere, so nothing felt important.
  8. Hard product discoveryScroll, read, compare mentally, then maybe understand.

Social media

Instagram and YouTube told the same story: built for leads, not for the brand.

Old Urban Money Instagram profile with text-heavy thumbnails
Instagram. Text-heavy thumbnails, a monotonous feed and no recognisable expert face. Built for leads, not for the brand.

The feed. No content categories and few customer stories. Nothing says why Urban Money is different.
Old Urban Money YouTube channel
YouTube. It read like a partner recruitment channel: payouts and referrals instead of customer education.
A rip-off lending website using the same generic green fintech look

Generic is easy to copy.

During the audit we found rip-off lending sites using the same green, rounded, stock-photo look. When a brand looks like every other lender, a copycat can look like it too. For a business built on trust, an ownable identity is a safety feature, not decoration.

03

Strategy

The Sage who helps families buy their first home.

Brand archetype

Primary archetype

The Sage

Urban Money acts as an advisor, consultant, problem solver and navigator. It isn't a disruptor, an innovator or a rebel. Borrowers are making the biggest financial decision of their lives. They want a calm expert, not a startup with attitude.

The emotional shift

Before Urban Money

Confused. Overwhelmed. Unsure which lender to choose.

After Urban Money

Informed. Confident. Supported.

Customers here aren't looking for excitement the way fintech app users are. They want trust, guidance, reassurance, lower rates and expert help. Every design decision that follows is measured against that emotional shift.

Perceptual map. Horizontal axis runs from trust-led to digital-first, vertical axis from premium to instant. Urban Money sits in the trust-led, premium-leaning quadrant next to Andromeda Loans. PREMIUM INSTANT LOAN APPS TRUST DIGITAL CRED American Express HDFC Bank ICICI Bank Andromeda Loans Paisabazaar BankBazaar Policybazaar Navi KreditBee CASHe Urban Money

Where Urban Money can win

Andromeda Loans is the closest competitor in mortgage advisory. Paisabazaar and BankBazaar are comparison marketplaces, Navi sells speed, and KreditBee and CASHe chase young personal-loan borrowers. CRED isn't a competitor but sets the bar for premium finance.

The open ground is the trust-led, premium-leaning quadrant: as reliable as a bank, more guided than a marketplace, calmer than an instant-loan app. The identity is designed to own that space.

05

Colour

Two greens. One means trust, one means go.

Banks default to blue, premium cards to black and instant-loan apps to loud gradients. Green is the colour of money and of a "go" signal. Splitting it into a calm deep tone and a sharp bright tone gives Urban Money both halves of its promise: the advisor and the approval.

Urban Deep

The advisor. A dark, considered green with the weight of a banking hall and the calm of the Sage. It carries most surfaces, holds white text at 10.4:1 and makes everything placed on it feel looked-after.

Approval Green

The moment of yes. A bright signal green kept for the thing that matters on a layout: a rate, a keyword, an arrow, a call to action. Used sparingly it becomes a reflex: when you see it, that's where to look.

Gradients and proportion

Core gradientApproval Green into a pale aqua. Light and open, used as the main background for the white logo and for product moments.
Plus gradientApproval Green into Urban Deep. Depth and weight, for premium products and hero moments.

Proportion guide: Urban Deep leads, white gives air, Approval Green stays rare enough to keep its meaning, gradients are an accent.

Contrast, checked

Trust includes legibility. Every text pairing passes WCAG AA except one, and that one is banned: white on Approval Green. On bright green, text is always Urban Deep or Ink.

07

Elements

Three elements. All three come out of the logo.

The elements are the most important part of this system. Colour and type can be copied. A consistent visual language that traces back to the mark is what makes Urban Money recognisable before anyone reads the logo.

Element 01 · The guide

The Arrow

From the rising diagonal of the bars. It points, organises and moves things forward.

Element 02 · The highlighter
Rate

The Underline

From the centre line of the logo. It reinforces a message without interrupting the read.

Element 03 · The spotlight

The Pill

From the rounded capsule inside the U. It turns one word into the focal point.

Element 01

The Arrow

An arrow on its own isn't ownable, and we don't pretend it is. What makes it Urban Money is how it's drawn and how consistently it's used. The arrow is the visual expression of guidance. Urban Money isn't just a loan platform, it's a guide, and guidance translates into direction, navigation, progress, decision-making and moving forward.

Drawn from the mark: a right-angle head and a 45° shaft, symmetrical along its own diagonal, with the same softened corners as the logo bars. It always points up and to the right, the direction the bars climb.

Why it works: the eye naturally follows directional shapes. An arrow says "read this", "go here" or "important information begins", and it implies movement, progress and a journey. For a home-loan brand, that's the whole story.

Guiding every financial direction

The four directional forms represent the many paths customers can take: home loans, refinancing, loan against property, insurance or investments. The central negative space is Urban Money, the trusted foundation that connects and guides every decision.

Element 02 · Underline

Get quick approvals on home loans with Urban Money.

Subtle on purpose: it reinforces a message without interrupting the reading. It's extracted from the logo's centre line, so every time someone sees it they're subconsciously seeing part of the logo geometry. Implicit brand recall instead of obvious branding. Think of it as a highlighter pen.

HeadlinesKeywordsStatisticsInterest ratesSmall emphasis
Element 03 · Pill

Money CAN buy happiness.

People notice enclosed shapes before plain text. The pill creates a visual interruption, a hierarchy and a focal point, so the eye lands there first. Because the capsule comes from the rounded geometry of the "U", it stays brand-owned instead of looking like a generic rounded rectangle. Think of it as a spotlight.

Underline: a highlighter. Reinforces the message without breaking the read.

Lists, CTAs, navigation and direction. It can repeat down a page because it organises rather than shouts.

Arrow as a list device

On an office-launch invitation the arrow does quiet, useful work: it marks each detail so the reader knows where information begins. Used this consistently, people start to recognise it as a brand asset rather than a generic arrow.

Photography

Confidence through clarity.

The moment after someone knows they made the right financial decision.

Not excitement. Not celebration. Confidence. Fintech ads shout with jumping people and confetti. A Sage brand shows the quiet exhale after the hard part is done.

Photo rules

Rule 01

A dark green element in every photo

A shirt, a wall, a prop. The image is on-brand before the logo appears.

Rule 02

Real Indian families

Aspirational, relatable people instead of generic stock models, so customers see themselves.

Rule 03

Consistent personas

A male and a female persona are generated and kept across the system, the start of a recognisable face.

Rule 04

Black-and-white cutouts

On social, monochrome cutouts on Urban Deep let Approval Green do all the colour work.

Three steps to keep the social profile consistent

Generic stock is replaced with the Urban Money personas using Google Nano Banana 2, so every post feels like the same brand and the same people. 1. Pick a reference for pose and mood. 2. Improve it with Nano Banana 2, swapping in the persona and the green element. 3. Build the static with the updated image.

Motion should feel like a calm advisor: confident, never jumpy. Hover each card to see the rule.

Ease out, no bounce

Fast start, soft landing. Bounces feel unserious with money.

Applications

One system, from a feed to a highway.

Out of home

On a highway you get about three seconds, so every format follows the same order: one message, one highlight, the logo. The pill does the shouting so nothing else has to.

Principles

Five rules to keep it Urban Money

  1. Lead with one messageAnswer "what's the best solution for me?", not "here are 20 things we offer".
  2. Highlight onceArrow, underline or pill. One per message, never stacked.
  3. Green means goApproval Green marks the decision point. If it's everywhere, it means nothing.
  4. Show people, not offersThe confident moment after the decision, not discounts and deals.
  5. Always move forwardUp and to the right in layout, motion and pattern. Calm, never jumpy.

Urban Money helps people borrow with confidence. Now it looks like it.
